One of my favourite things about my job as a bridal hair and makeup artist is designing a look that not only suits the bride, but also helps her personality to shine through on the biggest day of her life. Emma’s wedding in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire was a perfect example of this as the bride herself has a fabulously unique retro style.
At her trial, Emma showed me all the creative elements of the day she was putting together, from her custom designed 1950s style wedding dress with red underskirts to the bouquets she was making herself from white, red and black buttons! It all helped me to come up with a look that would fit in with the theme of her wedding.
Emma had very specific ideas for the hair and makeup she wanted, showing me lots of reference pictures she’d collected. The hair I created was a modern twist on a rockabilly style, with 3 victory rolls at the front and lots of big, bouncy curls at the back. To go with it I gave her porcelain skin, cats eye flicks and a ruby red pout to match her petticoats. The most beautiful thing about these pictures though, is the smile on her face!
