It’s winter here in the UK. The days are short and crisp, the nights long and cosy but my skin is starting to get dry and chapped. Icy winds and central heating do it no good at all so this year I’m making sure I give my skin lots of extra nourishment to keep it moisturised and looking healthy.
Here’s my budget friendly winter skincare routine for dry skin that’s easily irritated like mine. No acids here, just lots of hydration which means minimal exfoliation required.
I don’t cleanse in the morning as I don’t feel the need to and I like to I keep my routine as simple as possible. Instead, I start my morning routine by dampening my face with a spritz of Boots Glycerin & Rosewater, which I’ve decanted into a little spray bottle.
My current moisturiser of choice is the Peptide Moisturiser from The Inkey List. I love it’s nourishing formula that helps to keep my skin plump and youthful. I finish off with Bioderma Photoderma 50+ if I’m going to be out on about (yes, even in winter!) It’s matte formula is great under makeup.
I remove my makeup with the Oat Cleansing Balm from The Inkey list. I love a balm because my skin doesn’t feel dry or tight afterwards. It can be used as a hydrating mask too and who doesn’t love a multifunctional product? If I need to remove heavy eye makeup I’ll use Bioderma Sensibio micellar water, which is nice and gentle on my eyes.
After a spritz of Boots Glycerin & Rosewater I apply 100% Plant Derived Squalane from The Ordinary again and Olay’s Total Effects eye cream. My evening moisturiser is the Ceramide Night Treatment from The Inkey List to plump my skin up overnight. As it contains hyaluronic acid I’ll also add Weleda Skin Food on top if my skin is feeling particularly dry.
